What an incredible Private View as Suzanne Grace from Wild Art and I welcomed the Liverpool Lord Mayor (Richard Kemp) to see our exhibitions. I was excited to discuss my ongoing research aimed at preventing plant blindness and how collective efforts with the public can make a meaningful difference.
It was a privilege to share insights to the Lord Mayor about my current work with local children from diverse backgrounds and to explain how they have been benefiting from engaging in botany workshops. I highlighted that these workshops are not just educational but also crucial in building a connection to nature for the younger generation. During our discussion, I emphasised the importance of public exhibitions in promoting awareness of museum practices that contribute to plant conservation and showed the Lord Mayor aspects of "The Speculative Herbarium."
This opportunity has opened new doors with the Lord Mayor that could impact the future of Mindful Garden, including gaining easier access to council-owned venues. This means the project could expand to create wider opportunities for local children.
Thank you to the Lord Mayor for taking the time to visit and for learning more about the Mindful Garden. It was a pleasure to meet you and discuss my work in person.
